AVANCE breaks the cycle of inter-generational poverty through innovative, two generation education and support for families with young children.
The Book Club focuses on promoting literacy between parents and children for 30 weeks. The program teaches parents how to make literacy fun and interactive. It is led by parents who have been through the Book Club and have come back as volunteers. The reading club reaches parents who do not have access to AVANCE's parenting program.
AVANCE North Texas through its Dallas home office supports the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan area. All programs that AVANCE puts forward are evidence based. They also offer in depth support for families that are in abusive situations to limit neglect or abuse to the children, through their HOPES program. The contact for that program is Iris Contreras, icontreras@avance-ntx.org. During the summer, they offer a STEM summer camp for children 3 and 4. The information can be found for that on the same webpage as below.
