Community Action Partners may offer the most assistance in Fort Worth, Arlington, and Tarrant County. Rent/mortgage assistance will qualified people and provide help with paying rent and mortgage for Tarrant County residents. Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (known as CEAP) provides grants and financial assistance with utility bills electric, gas, and heating bill fuel assistance. In addition the CEAP program will also repair or replace an existing heater, propane tank, air conditioner, central air unit and/or heat unit, hot water heater and/or refrigerator. Medical Bill and Prescription Emergency Expense. Receive help with expenses that may be related to the repair of a vehicle used for work. Get access to the Atmos Energy "Share the Warmth", which provides assistance to Atmos Energy customers whose income is at or below 200% of Federal Income Guidelines or with extenuating circumstances. Assistance from Atmos is limited to once per year. Water Bill Utility/Plumbing Assistance: The agency will assist with past due water bills and pressurized water leak repair for families and households that pay for water from the Fort Worth Water Department. Program income eligibility is 175%-200% of Federal Income Guidelines depending on the exact funding source. Bus passes and gasoline vouchers may also available must meet guidelines for medical/social service agency appointments, transportation to job for limited time, and job search. TXU energy Aid provides utility and cooling assistance to TXU customers whose income is at or below 200% of Federal Income Guidelines or with extenuating circumstances. Utility assistance is limited to once per year. Minor home weatherization and repairs are available for Atmos Energy and Oncor service area customers. ? Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) To receive a TANF grant, a family must be below both resource and income limits that are set for the program. HHSC will look at a family’s income and then compare it with the amount the family pays for bills including basic needs such as utilities, rent, child care, outstanding debts, and other work-related expenses. All resources such as money in the bank, cash on hand, and type of vehicles you own are also considered. Families who are approved for the TANF program will receive cash payments for six months to help with bills and debt. Families who receive TANF benefits can also receive Medicaid benefits. One-Time TANF Grandparent Payment The One-Time TANF Grandparent Payment is a $1,000 payment in cash that is given to a grandparent who cares for a child receiving TANF. Food Stamp Program The Texas Food Stamp Program will helps people with lower incomes and resources buy the food they need for their good health.
