Safe Rider Program:
Eligibility requirements for receiving a seat:
For the classes and car seats:
Family must be low-income.
The application must be completed by a social worker.
One of the child's primary caregivers must attend a 1-hour class about child passenger safety.
Someone in the household must have a vehicle.
Pregnant women in their last trimester are encouraged to participate. Safe Riders does not provide "infant carriers" but provides convertible seats which can be used rear-facing for young children and then can be converted to forward-facing use when appropriate. Booster seats for older children are also available. Assistance is designed to be one-time only.
Please understand that seats are currently in Kaufman and Collin Counties and anyone. who can pick them up there. If families call they can make referrals for other areas.

The training and kit are free and are in all areas listed under eligible counties.
The Kit contains: a wearable blanket, Phillips Soothie Pacifier, Sleep Baby Safe and Snug Book, Safe sleep educational materials, one-on-one infant safe sleep education; and a play yard/cribette.
