Cleburne Housing's mission is to provide rental assistance
to the elderly, disabled, and very low income while promoting safe, decent, and
sanitary housing conditions and managing resources efficiently. The housing
jurisdiction is the city limits of Cleburne.
Cleburne
Housing Agency (CHA) will comply with all federal, state, and local
non-discrimination laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development regulations governing fair housing
and equal opportunity.
CHA does not
provide any form of emergency housing assistance.
The Housing Choice
Voucher (HCV) Program allows participants the freedom to select where they want
to live within the housing authority's jurisdiction. The program is federally
funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Eligible families
will pay approximately 30% of their adjusted income towards rent. Participants
choose housing that is program eligible (may be house, apartment, duplex, etc.)
and located within the City limits of Cleburne. Compliance is determined by an
inspection of the unit. Cleburne Housing pays a portion of the family's rent
directly to the landlord each month (based on the family's income). The amount
of rental assistance will change if the family's income changes.
Families are
eligible when their total income does not exceed HUD's very low income limits
and they meet other eligibility criteria as outlined in our local
Administrative Plan. Eligibility requirements include:
Must qualify as a family
have an income within the very low income limits
Meet citizenship / eligible immigrant criteria
Provide documentation of valid social security numbers on all family members
