CASA of North Texas recruits, trains and gives support to everyday people who act as volunteer advocates for children who have suffered abuse and/or neglect and found themselves in foster care.
These volunteers look out for the well being and best interests of these
most vulnerable children, acting as independent and objective fact finders who
speak with the child's parents, teachers, extended family members, neighbors
and most importantly - the child. They work with the attorneys, social
workers and child protective services workers. CASA volunteers provide
information to the professionals and especially to the judge, who has the
tremendous responsibility of making decisions that affect the very lives of the
children. Information provided by CASA volunteers helps to ensure
decisions made in each case take into account the child's best interests
