Counseling is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the counselor and client, and the particular problems you bring forward. In fact, there are many different methods used to deal with the problems that you hope to address by going to a counselor.
I utilize a type of therapy known as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This type of therapy is a systematic, goal-oriented approach to problems; typically shorter in duration than other therapies.
CBT is based on the theory that thoughts, feelings and behaviors interact and utilizing specific techniques can create change. Those techniques vary depending on the presenting problem.
