Austin Street Center is the largest low barrier shelter in Dallas that serves men, ages 45 and older, and women, ages 18 and older. Each person who finds shelter with Austin Street Center is provided a safe place to sleep, showers, clothing, and meals. More than just a meal and a bed, the Austin Street individualized model of service attempts to treat the whole individual through a comprehensive program that includes: housing coordination and stabilization services; employment and education resources; benefits and ID assistance; mental health services on-site; spiritual, emotional, and addiction support; diversion; transportation; and more.
Austin Street Center’s goal is to help client’s transition from homelessness to independence.
Intake Times/Requirements:
Women’s intake: 2 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. Sunday
Men’s intake: 4 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday
Guests must provide valid state or federal government I.D.
Guests are allowed a maximum of two bags, each weighing a maximum of 25 lbs.
Each client served through Austin Street Center has access to:

Diversion Services to prevent homelessness
Clients may also participate in housing-coordination programs and receive individual case management to help end their homelessness.
