  • Adult English Literacy Program

    Classes are offered morning, afternoon and evening and include up to seven English proficiency levels, all with classroom and computer instruction.

    Citizen preparation classes as well as one-on-one tutoring for the naturalization interview are also offered.

    All classes are free of charge; both volunteers and students are asked to make a small contribution to cover the cost for their books.

    Daytime classes are offered concurrently with the Early Childhood Education Program and provide a two-generation approach to learning. While parents are improving their English, children are preparing for elementary school and beyond.

    Evening classes provide a convenient opportunity for adults who work during the day to improve their English literacy skills.

    Early Childhood Education Program

    The Early Childhood Education Program provides a child-centered literacy-rich environment for young children from 4 months to 5 years old.

    The program is designed the meet the unique needs of English language learners. Children must have a parent or care-giver enrolled simultaneously in the Adult English Literacy Program.

    The program also provides bi-weekly Parent and Child Together (PACT) Activities helping parents become full partners in their children's learning.

    Student Support Services

    Student Support Services extend Literacy Achieves’ goal of eliminating barriers to learning and self-sufficiency.

    In addition to communication skills, students must also have confidence and cultural knowledge to access and navigate community resources in order to achieve personal goals.

    Dedicated staff provide individualized student assistance for referrals to community resources and coordinate enrichment programs and presentations led by community partners on topics such as legal and financial resources, nutrition, family engagement, and health resources.
