Revive is a special needs respite program offered by North Side Baptist Church of Weatherford that provides a free parents' night out for children with special needs and their siblings. It is offered on the first Saturday night of each month from 5:00-9:00 pm. A staff of trained, loving volunteers care for these children so that their parents can have a well-deserved and much needed break from the stress and rigors that accompany the care of special needs children. The event is designed to provide socialization and fun for the children.
A full array of activities is planned for the children, including crafts, jump houses, computer games, music, and more.
Special needs children who are still in school are eligible to participate along with any siblings who are under the age of 13. Children who are considered medically fragile such as children who require private nursing care or have a medical condition that requires specialized skills are eligible to participate on a case by case basis. All children who participate in the Revive program are assigned a "shadow" volunteer whose sole responsibility for the evening is to ensure the child has fun. Due to dietary differences, meals are not provided for the children however, parents may bring meals for their children. The meal will be supervised by the "shadow".
