BCVDDAP blind children's specialist works with each child and family to create a service plan tailored to the child's needs and circumstances. BEST provides free vision screenings and financial assistance to Texas residents for medically urgent eye treatment with a referral from your ophthalmologist.

Information on deaf/blindness, including effective strategies to support children with combined hearing and vision loss.
Information and support in finding local, state and national resources.
How to Apply:
Email the Blind Children’s Program at Blindchildrensprogram@hhsc.state.tx.us
Call the HHS office of the Ombudsman at 1-877-787-8999, select a language and then select option 3 or submit the request online.
BEST Services:
Eligibility-18 years of age, Texas resident, not have insurance or any other resource in which to pay for treatment, not be legally blind, and have recommendation from ophthalmologist.
Provides: blindness prevention education and resources; vision screenings to identify conditions that may cause blindness and urge eye medical treatment to prevent blindness.
From 6499 must be completed and include: physician fee, anesthesiology fee, and facility fee.
