This is a grant fund. Please note that the estimated time from the receipt of the completed application to receiving an award is approximately four to eight weeks, subject to the application meeting criteria and the availability of funds.
Other hearing devices, as needed, on an individual basis may be considered for funding. Included may be enclosed caption converters for television, tactile units, FM units (into which a hearing aid is plugged for amplification), computers to assist deaf children in communicating, and other technical devices that may be prescribed.
Many of the recipients are children of working parents who cannot meet this special need financially.
The application is available online and eligibility includes required paperwork such as recent pay stubs and an audiogram.
Grant only covers external pieces up to $5,000 maximum (it varies must call to verify). Cochlear implants are not covered.
However, the external processor may be covered.
