Autism Testing for Children and Adults: In order to ensure we have a complete understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, and needs of a person with ASD, we may recommend a variety of assessment methods, including interviews and observation as well as cognitive, adaptive, emotional/behavior/personality, and achievement testing. We will use a personalized testing battery to help determine whether an individual will meet the diagnostic criteria for ASD. We work with patients and parents to gather all of the necessary information to make an informed and accurate diagnosis. We will also work with you to create a practical plan for moving forward with goals to improve a child’s learning experience, and help patients of all ages achieve their personal, professional, and educational goals.
ADHD Testing for Children and Adults: In some cases where patients demonstrate significant difficulty with concentration and/or hyperactivity, we may recommend focused testing for just ADHD. Because the signs and symptoms of ADHD are common to other disorders, we may recommend patients receive a more advanced battery of neuropsychological assessments. In order to ensure accurate diagnosis, we may use any number of testing components, including: Clinical interviews, Rating scales, Neuropsychological batteries, Achievement testing, Cognitive evaluation, Observation. In addition to our own assessments, we ask that parents or patients also provide us with any additional medical history, reports from education professionals, and/or past reviews from school counselors and others who have provided feedback that may be relevant to accurate ADHD diagnosis.

Psychological Testing: Psychological testing from the team at DFW Assessment may include a variety of evaluative measures. Our team always creates personalized assessment plans. Assessment methods may include written tests, rating scales, and computerized testing instrument that evaluate strengths and weaknesses in cognitive, academic, and behavioral function. Our team members may also use behavioral rating scales to gain a better understanding of the severity and frequency of your experiences. One of our clinicians will also conduct a one-on-one interview to get to know and understand your unique situation. Interviews with or information from others who know you well may also be gathered.
Neuropsychological Testing: Every patient at DFW Assessment is given a unique set of tests, so no two neuropsychological assessments will be exactly the same. These tests are specifically designed to find the limits of a patient’s cognitive abilities. For this reason, patients often find neuropsychological testing to be very frustrating. However, it’s essential for us to push patients’ abilities, so we have a true picture of their strengths. Neuropsychological evaluation may include a battery of test questions and performance tasks to help us judge your skill and thought processes.
Consultations
Bariatric Pre-Surgical Psychological Evaluations: If you’re considering bariatric surgery or have already chosen to move forward with this weight loss procedure, you will likely need to complete a pre-surgical psychological evaluation. Insurance providers commonly require these services before surgical treatments, including bariatric surgery. This ensures your safety and success before, during, and after your surgical procedure by helping you reflect on your goals, understand your treatment plan, and ensure you feel confident moving forward with your bariatric surgery.
Spinal Cord Stimulator Pre-Surgical Psychological Evaluations: Spinal cord stimulation is a treatment for chronic pain. Only 9% of the body’s nerve system is meant to receive and send pain notifications, and these pain messages are important indicators of injury that prevent us from further injuring ourselves. For some patients, these receptors function improperly or are overactive. These patients will experience chronic pain. Patients who struggle with chronic pain may choose to undergo spinal cord stimulation surgery. During this procedure, a small spinal cord stimulator (SCS) device is implanted below the skin and attached to your nerve system. When you experience chronic pain, the SCS device will mask the signal before it reaches your brain, relieving discomfort. Before you decide to move forward with any surgical procedure, it’s important to be mentally and physically prepared. Insurance providers commonly require patients to receive pre-surgical psychological evaluations for a number of procedures including SCS placement. The goal is to avoid adverse mental and physical health risks. These evaluations may uncover other areas that cause or exacerbate chronic pain and help patients prepare for their procedures.
